I became interested with Mortiis after I bought the smell of rain album, though I liked it I was curious to see if his earlier albums were better, so I bought The Stargate and The Crypt of The Wizard.
These cd's from ERA 1 are, in my opinion vastly superior to Mortiis's newest releases.
I know alot of people will ask how I can compare two seperate genres of music, but I am not, i'm comparing the standard to Mortiis's creativity.
This album is brilliant in every way.
It serves well when concentrating specifically on listening, but it also excels as background music, when writing *or reading a David Gemmel book*
My favourite track would be "World Essence".
It is hauntingly sad but is beautiful with it, it has some of the most beautiful female vocals i've heard in a song, and the woman sobbing throughout is perfect for the mood.
This album is music for a dark faerytale and I think alot of people who enjoy epic fantasy music should invest in this cd.
