5.0 out of 5 stars ...slowly slips into your consciousness
What a superb album! Its not the type I normally go for, being a rock fan, but this is so chilled out, original and melodic that its hard to imagine anybody not liking it! Slowly seeps into your soul, and the music becomes like an old friend you call upon again and again. Best track for me has to be the slow burning Blindfold, but its all very good, not an album you have...

3.0 out of 5 stars music for people who don't like music.
This is a nice album. Nice in the sense that you could take it home to meet your mother. it doesn't do anything new and it isn't going to move you in a way.
It rides the trip hop bandwagon and rides it very nicely. This album marks the exact point when trip hop went from being the most exciting and fresh sound around to being the sort of thing that gets played in...

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding albulm., 28 Dec 1999

This review is from: Big Calm (Audio CD)
This is a cracking little album - I can't stop playing it! Great to sing along to at top whack in the car (if you're into this kind of thing). Beats the pants off morbid, dull Portishead. And the man in the background of one track going 'crucial' is worth buying the album for in itself! Stuff all you philestines and NME readers if you don't like this!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great chill out - trip hop with vocals, 21 Dec 1999

Sublime. Don't take any notice of the confusing reviews - if you like Muki, Portishead, Lotus then you've probably already got this album. If not, get them all, you're missing out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Should be one for the millenium classics!, 14 Dec 1999

At last an albulm worth purchasing. It has better melodies than their previous albulm, and the female vocals are quite relaxing this time round. It's a total chill out albulm. Either play it as soft background music, or crank it up and sing your heart out. It's definitely one of those the more you listen to it the more you appreciate it albulms. Favourite track? Na, take your pick there's enough of them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ultimate in lounge trip-hop drum and bass., 3 Nov 1999
This review is from: Big Calm (Audio CD)
This album, their second, is one of the best of the new wave of drum and bass in Britain. Very similar to Massive Attack but a little less dark. A great schmoove album and one of the best lounge albums ever.

Of the 3 Morcheeba albums I have tried, this one probably gets played the most. It tries a few different things vocally - not just the female vocal here - and this works well, and helps to make it stand out. Good rhythms too. Chill-out and enjoy.
