5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing live, great on CD.
When I saw these guys in the Barbican Centre, London, I immediately decided that they were one of the most exciting quartets I had ever seen. Their ensemble was astounding, and was pointed by Ms. Roberts' powerful singing. The new work is sturdy, and original stuff, and the old standards and the album are played in a new and interesting way. This CD is by far the most...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good first outing.
Emerging UK tenor player with a very professional debut CD. Second half of the CD is much better than the weaker first. The Stevie Wonder 'Have a Talk With God' doesn't really belong with the rest. You can hear a very strong Michael Brecker influence in some of his tracks, so if you're a Brecker fan, you'll love this guy. Excellent range from ballads like 'Shades of Green' to the furious 'Of Stars'. The latter is a much better platform for his skills. He's great when he just lets rip. Faultless band.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant young BRITISH Jazz Artist!, 21 April 2000
This review is from: Be Where You Are (Audio CD)
Great album he writes fantastic tunes. Nominated for the Mecury Music Prize and won a MOBO you wont be disappointed. The band are great but the sax is sublime. And Denys seems to really care about the compositions rather than just make them a vehicle for his soloing. Steve
