5.0 out of 5 stars Im Funky And I'm Free, 1 Sept. 2003

Ian Mcnabb's solo masterpiece, voted favourite mcnabb album by polls on the website and in 'Mcnabb Rag' kicks off with the great title track., a semi-autobiographical number with a great chorus-i'm funky and free indeed. great live favourites included are camararderie and you stone my soul. includes the brilliant 'too close too the sun' which Ian wrote after Kurt Cobains suicide. If you can get hold of the bonus disc version do so as the live version of 'what she did to my mind is superb', includes an uncredited appearance by a mr gallagher on the cover of the seeds 'pushin too hard'-Buy it Now!

Brilliant album by a massively underrated singer.Like Martin Stephenson, another of my favourites ,Ian McNabb has been around for a number of years making fantastically melodic music but getting virtually no recognition from the public or media. Which is a great shame as these are uplifting, life-affirming,sing out loud songs.Obviously I`m biased having been a fan for years but you can`t beat a good old sing-along at the top of your voice driving in your car! All of his albums are worth getting but this one especially, as it includes the live e.p , where Ian lets rip on old Icicle Works songs, Evangeline and Understanding Jane. On the main album my favourite song is probably the epic 7 minute They settled for less than they wanted, which builds up slowly until it speeds up in the last minute and comes to a guitar drenched end.Overall highly recommended for fans and beginners, as there`s so many good songs to choose from.
