5.0 out of 5 stars Second toughest? Who's the first!
Well, Underworld have surpassed themselves. I started out with dubnobasswithmyheadman, and thought the world of it. Pumping bass, with some of the most intricate beats. Able to get up and dance to the fast drums, or chill out to the overlapping and intertwining drums and synths on the top.
Then I got second toughest. My illusions of what underworld where/are...

3.0 out of 5 stars Mellow
Got this for a bargain at 99 pence just right for background music not so good if you're out for a run though!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Underworld Standard Mint!, 10 April 2015
The Standard We Have Come To Expect With Underworld. My advice is to collect all of their music as none of it will let you down. In my humble opinion, you can take any of their albums and switch them around after a heavy night of twisted dancing and they will place a naughty smile on your face as you are transported down another dark tunnel of warped dark loveliness. What's not to like?

utterly fantastic if you like dark repetitive beats that go on for an age ... love having this on in the car for long drives after surfing ... takes me to a special place listening to just the first (or 3 depending on your opinion) track - i recommend this as well as dubnobass.. and beaucoup as essentials for any collection if your into 'decent' dance music

Don't expect any "big tunes" or "hits" here, there aren't any.

This album is much deeper than any other Underworld album, and musically it's fantastic.

I highly recommend this album, but only if you have the time to really listen to it

5.0 out of 5 stars This must be a 5 star album, 4 Feb. 2010

Firstly, I have to tell you, this is one of my Desert Island Discs. There are songs here which are long and take you on a journey, so not your average pop rubbish by any means, far from it. this is like a new Pink Floyd. Perhaps it takes a few listens to get into their groove, but once there, this album will be with you for life. Banstyle is the warmest, cruisy trip I have ever heard. I just love this track. There are short whimsicle numbers and one of the best dance tracks ever and I'm not talking about Born Slippy. Juanita will let you dance your arse off. Once this album has hooked you, go out and investigate further. Beaucoup Fish is fantastic as are many of their single releases which often have absolute gems hidden away... Enjoy

5.0 out of 5 stars My favourite Underworld album by far, 21 Jun. 2012
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
In my opinion, this has to be Underworld's best album. The ambivalence shown by some people towards it perplexes me, as I think this album, more than any of their later ones, shows their range and depth succinctly in one CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Musical Perfection, 18 Nov. 2000

This album is the best one in my whole collection, from start to finish it takes you on a journey with every track perfectly balanced. Many people may buy this for its standout tracks such as pearls girl but believe me every one is simply superb. Underworld at their absolute best.

One of the most defining albums of the dance scence in the last 10 years. If you have an interest in serious dance music you need this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just get this CD!, 10 Aug. 2000

I don't have to say much, this album is their best and from the very start 'Juanita' will take you through some great sounds, particulary the excellent 'Pearl's Girl.'
This album highlights the height of the underground dance scene in 1996, before this group and many others went wildly commercial.
