A lovely soundtrack similar to the soundtrack for Star Trek First Contact but well worth having and listening to.

If John Williams is the Wagner of the space age, then Jerry Goldsmith surely is the Beethoven of the space lanes, and Star Trek Insurrection is his pastoral symphony. True, it is not as energetic and masterful as Star Trek Nemesis, but any Goldsmith score is still a cut above the rest. Enjoy the music in its own right, and you will understand why Jerry Goldsmith has been credited with being the heart and soul of Star Trek. Thank you, Jerry, we miss you!

Some scores you play because they are epic in sound. Others because they carry a sense of pulse-pounding action. But for me, I play the Insurrection score when I want to relax. That's not to say this score doesn't contain some great action beats, it does - but overall, the music is of a much gentler tone than a typical action movie.

The score for Insurrection is also a lot lighter in tone than that of First Contact or Nemesis - instead it feels more similar to Generations in that sense. Out of all of the Next Generation film scores, this is the one where I quite happily listen to all of the tracks again and again (whereas I am prone to skip straight to my favourites in the other scores). A great cd.
