5.0 out of 5 stars Rock 'n roll --you either do it or you don't
One star for this album? Please try to be serious, listeners. If you have ever wanted to know what it was like to hear the Beatles selling beer to the Kaiserkeller crowd, this album is as close as you deserve to get. The fast tracks crackle with energy, the slow ones are deeply and honestly emotional, and this entire crowd of grizzled veterans plays as though they...

3.0 out of 5 stars Some Really Good Stuff mixed in with the bland
Like everyone of my generation I have been [over] exposed to the Beatles. I think it is impossible to view them objectively due to the massive media hype. I think that squirreled away behind the myth has always been the amazing oral music skills of McCartney in particular and the band as a whole. The songs may at times leave me cold [more and more the older I get] but the...

1.0 out of 5 stars A Poor Album From An Artist That Can Do So Much Bettter, 8 Jan 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Run Devil Run (Audio CD)
There are many other artist's material to buy first if you want some retro rock and roll, in fact these days you can buy most of the remastered original material anyway. Having bought and adored 'Flaming Pie', I was expecting more song writing genius from the ex Beatle, I was disappointed.
I have no doubt that this is 'good' for what it is, it's just not good for Paul McCartney. Tired formula covers and corny new songs from one of the greatest song writers ever, no thanks. One CD that's certainly on the list to be converted in to a clock.

2.0 out of 5 stars Paul, you should stick to pop, 22 Dec 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Run Devil Run (Audio CD)
Paul McCartney should stick to making his brilliant pop songs. Unfortunately, »Run Devil Run« is an(other) example showing that he, despite his undiscussable musicality, is not made to play rock'n'roll.
A pity, really. 'Cause I would have loved to see one more superb pop album from McCartney!
