5.0 out of 5 stars yet another cardiacs masterpiece, 30 Mar 2001
This review is from: Guns (Audio CD)
what can you say about cardiacs that has not been already said. Cardiacs are the best and most talented group of musicians that I have ever seen. I have seen them over 30 times and have never got bored. They have everything, any style of music, any tempo, any anything, brilliant on stage act, funny, talented and above all, great musicians. Cardiacs make anyone who is lucky enough to hear them, realise how insignificant most other bands really are. If you ever get the chance, see them live, it really will be an experience in which you will never forget. 'poor soldier, dispite all his charmes, while he slept, they cut off his arms' seeing is believing.....

5.0 out of 5 stars The more accessible album, 8 Oct 2011

Mr. G. E. Merrill "TinyG" (Suffolk(unfortunately), England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Guns (Audio CD)
This album is a touchy subject with some of the older Cardiacs fans. With the now standard 4 piece formation this album is littered with great guitar solos, lots of wailing punctuating odd songs, and the odd bit of technical mastery.
This album has always felt like the more obvious attempt at breaching the main stream. The lyrics are still wonderfully dark and odd with odd twists of humour ('My friend says, "Where's my dirty bottom gone?", I says, "Blown of by a big bomb",
And he says, "I thought there was a bit of a stink pong") and the single 'Signs' is an absolute blinder! But it still feels a bit over produced, with songs going on a little longer than necessary to show off the backing vocalists talents (good though they are).
This is still a great album but a move away from traditional anthemic, mad timed Cardiacs we all know and love.

5.0 out of 5 stars FANTISTIC, DISTURBING,MAJESTIC, 17 Jun 2000
This review is from: Guns (Audio CD)
The Cardiacs are not only the most underratted band in the world but also the best live act on the planet! This latest collection has catchy choruses to get you hooked and hard-as-nails riffs to get you jumping. I can't stop playing the damn thing!
