4.0 out of 5 stars Freewheeling and Accessible Madagascan Folk Music, 1 Feb. 2001
By
This review is from: Vetse (Audio CD)
This album is wonderfully free, both in the way that the instruments are played, and in the spirit that it evokes. The music is founded on quick-fingered, rolling, twin guitars and the emploring singing voice of Monique Rasoanirina. Close vocal harmonies are also strongly called upon to give the music richness. This is a quintessential Madagascan folk sound which will have you dreaming of fishing villages in the moonlight. Accessible and uplifting.
