5.0 out of 5 stars repetitive, but well done., 8 Mar 2002
This review is from: Tango Ballet/Kremer (Audio CD)
If you are a fan of Astor, you'd probabily heard of his concierto del angel in many of his other recordings already. The theme is the same but variations gets recorded over and over again. This CD has about 1/3 to that. The other 2/3 however, are new and just as attractive as the Astor we all know and love. Kremer is a great violinist, and the quartet is the authority in Astor's intrepretation. This CD has many wonderfully played tunes and themes that hints us the very essence of Astor's effusive spirit. Regardless the repetition, there are some intoxicating melodies perfect for a romantic evening.
Also, if you happen to live outside of Europe, I recommand you to buy this while in Europe. I found that it is hard to get this CD in US or Asia. Somehow Astor's music don't get spread around as much in those places, I am quite disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lyrical rendition of Piazzolla's genius, 21 May 2000

This review is from: Tango Ballet/Kremer (Audio CD)
Gideon Kremer has single-handedly revived interest in Piazzolla's music and interpreted it stunningly. The music has real depth and feeling in his hands. A must. Also check out Kremer's 'Eight Seasons'
