5.0 out of 5 stars Real R&B: jumpin' blues and r'n'r from Atlantic Records, 23 Aug 2002
This review is from: Let the Boogie Woogie Rock 'n' Roll (Audio CD)
One of the best compilations out there, you got Clyde McPhatter, Ray Charles, Ruth Brown, Ivoryy Joe Hunter, Lavern Baker and many more. Not a single weak track on the whole record. Great dancing music and an absolutely must have in any coleccion of rock and roll and jump blues.

5.0 out of 5 stars More obscurities from Atlantic, 14 April 2008
This review is from: Let the Boogie Woogie Rock 'n' Roll (Audio CD)
With the exception of LaVern Baker's Hey Memphis-an answer version to Elvis Presley's Little Sister-all this stuff is from the 50s and was never issued in the U K with 1949 as the earliest date.
The biggest names here-Joe Turner,Ruth Brown,Ray Charles, the Clovers and Clyde Mcphatter are here with songs which were not among their biggest sellers and it was not until 1957 that these artists were made available in the U K.
Hard to believe nowadays when its all available on CD but Atlantic was still a long way off becoming the leader in rhythm'n'blues and would need a helping hand from the British
