This review is from: Evolution (Audio CD)
This is the Hollies' effort to embrace the burgeoning psychedelia scene, and frankly, is a bit of a joke when compared to other stuff, i.e. Pink Floyd, The Pretty Things,The Beatles, etc. However, there are a few good tunes ("Heading For A Fall", "Water on The Brain") and fans of this genre will want to hear their efforts...This particular reissue is severely flawed in my opinion, as for some unknown reason one of the only strong tunes has been omitted ("Leave Me") so I would advise buying the earlier version of this cd, "Carrie Ann" is gash anyway innit! I'd say if you cobbled the best cuts from this and "Butterfly" (their other "psychedelic" album)the Hollies couldv'e maybe had a decent set, but they BOTH have too many ridiculous (and bad) songs on em. I defy ANYONE to enjoy "Lullabye To Tim" with Nash's horrid tremelo'ed vocals...buy it anyway though!
