5.0 out of 5 stars Elvis' greatest recordings - ever!
Elvis had bigger hits and sang other great songs, but as a group these recordings cannot be matched for their vitality, freshness and the beauty of the singing and instrumentation. Almost never again would Elvis' voice sound so young and fleet, dancing from to tenor to falsetto to the trembling baritone so overused later in his career.

I brought this item purely because I am a absolutely massif fan of Elvis Presley and have been since I was 10 yrs' old and I decided to collect every single song he ever recorded/produced/unreleased and that's over 490 songs that I know of. But within saying that I still wasn't keen on this album, but it had two songs I needed for my collection, so I brought it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Gold!!!, 18 Dec. 2002

This is Elvis in the raw and at his best at a time when he was hungry to make his mark in the world.
CD 1 is the Sun Studio masters. There are some great rockers and smooth ballads all injected with the Presley Fire and Brimstone!!!
CD 2 contains mainly Elvis' very early material and alternative takes which display what amazing vocal range he possessed at such an early age (he could really hit those high notes then - Amazing!). Elvis' Blues, Rhythm & Blues and Country roots are evident here, which gives you an insight in to how Rock n Roll evolved and how Elvis earned his crown as the King of Rock n Roll!
