I just had to respond to the other reviewer of this album who has so completely missed the point with his comments. The guitar
playing on this album is superb and so, even more importantly, are the songs. That's not something you can say about most Malmsteen albums. Axel's style of playing and songwriting is firmly set in the Ritchie Blackmore Rainbow mould; great riffs, superb solos and fantastic melodies. If you like Rainbow albums such as Rising, Rainbow and Long Live Rock'n'Roll then you'll love this album. Most of the songs are either mid or slow tempo with the odd faster one thrown in for good measure. His other albums such as eg. Black Moon Pyramid, Masquerade Ball are also excellent and well worth a listen. If you are a fan of heavy, melodic rock then this album will make a fine addition to your collection.

will one day be considered a classic. Axel Rudi Pell writes some fine music and his riffing is peerless. Melodic, heavy and catchy, spell binding stuff. The vocalist, Johnny Gioeli compliments the music perfectly. Mystica and Shadow Zone are also first class.

Oceans of time, classic ARP album full of meaty hooks, ballads, mid tempo rockers, great vocals magical guitar playing, all the usual traits of an ARP album, (just one duff track) but i advise all melodic hard rock ,fans to buy this album, you will not be dissappointed...

Been a fan of ARP since I bought Wild Obsession when it was released (had never heard them but loved the cover).
Oceans of Time is not just ARPs best album to date, but one of my all time favs. From the rip roaring Carousel to the haunting title track, this album delivers no matter how many times you listen to it. But don't take my word for it. Buy it and you will understand why.

I heard that ARP was a guitarist of similar calibre to Yngwie Malmsteen, so I went for it and got this CD. And whilst this is no neoclassical fest, he is a good player.
I can't get used to the guitar sound - it's sterile and too buzzy (a bit like a wasp in a lawnmower). And the songwriting isn't very good. And the vocalist sseems to struggle with some of the high notes. And some of the soloing is messy. And there are long instrumental parts, which are just plain boring - 3 notes over and over, then a key change and same pattern a note lower. For 5 minutes.
Now, I am a fan of instrumental rock, I love Satch, Vai and Yngwie, I am quite happy with long songs. And there are a few reasonable moments (Caroussel is OK and has a catchy chorus, hence the second star).
But I'd go for any Yngwie album any day. or save your cash.
