This is a very nice John Lewis album that makes me think John might be a contender for the greatest jazz composers list...
Tracks: Django, Sascha's March, Lyonhead, Winter Tale, Valeria, D&E, Kansas City Breaks, Milano.
Players - J. Lewis-p, Frank Wess-fl, Joe Kennedy Jr.-vi, Marc Johnson-b, Shelly Manne-dm. Not a bad list--- Dan Morgenstern informs us that Johnson used to play with Bill Evans.
Ellegantly swinging, this album will please both the Modern Jazz Quartet fans and those who considered their sound to be a bit clanky and monotonous.
