5.0 out of 5 stars Dramatic voice of soul!, 3 May 2002
This review is from: Best Of (Audio CD)
Timi Yuro is one of those artists that didnt make it especially big, however, the songs are recognisable anywhere! To describe the appeal of this cd, if you're into Shirley Bassey, Helen Shapiro or pehaps Jackie DeShannon, then heres one you'll like. From pure dramatic ballads with 'Insult to injury' to the fast and catchy 'whats a matter baby', this cd is ideal for background music and one of those artists where guests will always ask 'who is that'? in the most inquisitive way! Beware of re-recordings on the cheaper cd's and watch out for rare and pricey collectors item LPs, especially on the Sunset label.

If you never hear another femail singer for the rest of your life you MUST hear Timi Yuro. This album is a great selection of her work. She sings with such feeling and soul and has left behind the most amazing collection of songs. Can someone please release "Something Bad on My Mind" album.

5.0 out of 5 stars The girl most unlikely, 8 April 2011
This review is from: Best Of (Audio CD)
When Timi Yuro hit No 1 this was clearly not a Pixie Girl.A girl singer with a man's name and a deep voice was a departure from the norm.
The girl born as Rosemary Yuro had a lasting career which began with Hurt specialised in covers through at least 10 albums up to the final one Timi Yuro sings Willie Nelson (at the time an unknown on her label Liberty)
Hurt was a cover or at least a revival of the original Roy Hamilton single and was the inspiration for Elvis to revive it.
Nothing resembling a hit in the U K in spite of appearing over here and everything issued
Probably Helen Shapiro was the closest to her voice yet SHE had no U S hits in spite of appearing over there
