5.0 out of 5 stars A Regular Box Of Tricks, 15 May 2007
By
G. F. Williams "Aramid2" (Gloucester UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Disc one contains mainly tracks from early singles and EPs and includes the 'Jethro Toe' single Aeroplane/sunshine day. The highlights for me are Jack Frost and the hooded crow and March the mad scientist.

Disc two starts of with the storming 'Lick your fingers clean' which has become one of my favorite JT tracks, following this comes the Chateau D'Isaster Tapes containing a)Scenario,b) audition ,c) No Rehearsal albeit in a slightly different format to the versions on Nightcap. The rest of Cd two is taken up by a mixed bag of later 'b' sides including, Jack-a-Lynn, Part of the machine and Under wraps 2.

CD three is the essential tull i.e. The witches Promise, thick as a brick etc.

The whole set comes in a 12"size box, with a very well put together glossy book containing the history and family tree, together with some excellent photographs.

If you can secure a copy it will make a great investment, the price has trebled since release and doesn't look like stopping.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wish I had got this on CD, 4 May 2012
This review is from: 20 Years of Jethro Tull Definitive (Audio CD)
Back in the late 1980s I was still a vinyl fan. I saved up for months to buy this as CDs were too expensive in those days so I got it on vinyl. It is a great mix of old and new Tull up to about 1988. The outtakes from the 1970s sessions are the highlight, especially the chateau disaster sessions and the heavy horses outtakes. The sound is stunning as is the booklet that came with it. I also brought the video that was also called 20 Years of Jethro Tull and that contains some great clips and sound.
This is a real collectors thing now days, shame it should be available on CD or even BluRay now days.
