5.0 out of 5 stars The Temps at their very best, 8 Nov 2005
By
This review is from: With A Lot O' Soul (Audio CD)
If you're gonna buy one Temps album make it this one.For me they're at their very best with David Ruffin at the absolute peak of his tortured, anguished genius. He finally becomes THE front man, leading 7 of the 12 tracks here including the first 4,all full of drama, grit and emotion. The vastly underrated and greatly underused baritone Paul Williams shows what he's capable of on 'No More Water In The Well' and Eddie Kendricks makes his usual highly valuable contribution with his effortless falsetto on the remaining tracks. The harmonies throughout are as tight as you could want and with The Funk Brothers behind them this has to be one of the all time great Motown albums.Buy and enjoy!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Easily one of the greatest motown 60's albums. A true classic., 10 Aug 2007
This review is from: With A Lot O' Soul (Audio CD)
Motown albums in the sixties were often filled with covers of motown hits and a few singles. In the hands of Norman Whitfield however the temptations produced original music, which makes them essential purchases for tempts fans. But never did they get it so right as they did on this album. Every song has something different than the usual; whether it is the performance of the singers or the ambitious arrangements of the songs. There are a number of ballads perfectly placed alonside some more uptempo songs and the album flows. This is a band on top form with one of the most talented producers of all time and any sixties soul fan must try to get this in their collection. Lastly, it is worth getting this album on its own as the two-for-one set which comes along with Live at the Copa does not have You're my everything, which is on of the finest points on the album.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Temptations at their best!, 24 April 2013
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: With A Lot O' Soul (MP3 Download)
Clearly the most oustanding "LP" of The Temptations long career. This Album has their original line up with outstanding tracks with Eddie Kendricks, David Ruffin and Paul Williams alternating leads on varying tracks. I teal Gem of both The Temptations and Tamla Motown at it's very best. Would have loved in on CD but had to settle for a MP3.
