Volumes 3-4 & 5-6 are finest Desert Sessions so far. In fact, I might have given 5 stars if it weren't for the price you have to pay for the Man's Ruin Sessions these days. I'm glad I got them all before they became collectable.

Far more akin to QOTSA than Kyuss & a very varied set of tunes too. There's a very free feel to Vol 3-4, even more so than on other Desert Sessions & this is probably the most creative as a result. There are a couple of prototypes for QOTSA songs & various well known people add their skills to the mix.

If you can afford the high price tag then buy this now! In a few years the price will probably have doubled because original copies of the Desert Sessions are getting very rare.

Well, what can i say. i can pretty much sell this to you with the line: if you like Queens Of The Stone Age, you'll love this! in fact this cd contains early versions of 2 queens tracks: avon and monster in your parasol. This cd contains a lot more stoner influences for a more kyuss style sound. on a few tracks, the singer uses proper doom metal style death grunts (in a tuneful happy way though). this isn't all just standard stoner though, it takes in a number of influences, all the way from country and western, through to the aformentioned doom. the eclectic mix of artists means every track sounds different, which is a criticism often levelled at stoner. if you're looking for something to tide you over till the next queens release, u need look no further than this (and the superb vols 5 & 6). its a purchase you won't regret
