This album is frustrating to buy for those who have the rest of the albums, and only want to buy it for the 2 or 3 tracks that are not available on other albums. This CD would save you time in carting around 4 or 5 albums in your car, instead this album contains all tracks from the albums. Some of the live tracks have been faded out at the end, which takes away the feel of a live show, but then if you want a fluent live performance, you'd buy the "Briefcase Full of Blues" or the "Made In America" albums. A quality album for the music within it, if not for the way it has been assembled.

This is called the Definitive Blues Brothers, and is a collection of Songs from the film and then some.
If you liked the film, you'll probably like this; as it has all the songs you know and love; you just can't help running the film scenes through your head during each song.
I play this whilst driving, and always end up with strange looks when I'm stationary,as I belt out the songs like a thing possessed. If you don't like Blues/Retro 60s feel music then this won't appeal to you;.This is for people who like this type of music anyway, not just because they liked the Blues Brothers film; it goes way beyond that, and some may get bored with the non-soundtrack songs.
Nevertheless, there are Blues fans and Blues Brothers fans, and this collection has enough to keep both types happy. I challenge you to keep your tailfeather still whilst giving this a spin....

This is a great album to listen to, if nothing else to listen some of the best blues musicians EVER!!! Joliet Jake is no slouch at singing the blues, and what can you say about Elwood? His harp playing is fantastic!!
It features tracks taken from Briefcase, the OST, Made in America and the Best of.
The track listing does jump around a lot and some of the live tracks have been faded out. However don't let that put you off. The essence of the Blues Brothers is there.
Some of the outstanding tracks are 'Green Onions', a blinding version of 'I can't turn you loose', 'Messin' with the kid', to name but a few.
For those who have never heard of the Blues Brothers, where've you been? Start with this collection of cool tunes and make up for lost time!!
For those who already have heard of the Blues Brothers, if you ignore the short comings of this colleciton, then this collection will grow and grow on you.

Unfortunately these CDs have digital rights management which prevented me putting a copy onto my MP3 player or computer (they won't even play on the computer) which is annoying as I was looking forward to listening to this whilst out hill walking and do most of my indoor listening on the computer whilst I'm catching up with my admin. I can understand why they have done this, but it does make the CDs a far less attractive purchase.
It might be worth paying the slightly higher (!) price for the digital download unless you only want this for your car.
Having said that, the music on these discs is absolutely great and if you can listen to it without either boogying on down or singing along then you are probably dead.

If you love the films, if you love Blues and Soul, this is the album you have to buy.
Great collection of classic songs which always gets my toes tapping and puts a smile on my face.

There was an earlier posting to say the CD could not be played/ripped on their computer. I have to say that the copy I received was playable on my Mac (OSX = 10.8.x) and ripped into iTunes just fine, so perhaps that was a problem with an earlier pressing of the CD or compatibility issue with a different operating system.

I loved the Blues Brother when I was younger, so decided to get this DVD, the Blues Brother Collection, comes with not only the original movie, but also the sequel Blues Brother 2000

Most of the tracks on here are available on the other CD's by the Blues Brothers Band. Each of the 2 CD's contains about half of the OST tracks. These seem to be randomly chosen and don't seem to flow too well. Doesn't contain any of the Blues Brothers 2000 tracks. It does have the benefit of just carrying the one case to the car for a lot of BB music!

We went to a stage show of the Blues Brothers and decided we had to have some of the songs we heard in the show at home! This double CD fitted the bill perfectly, it had many of the songs we had heard and is full of the same verve and energy we experienced at the show we attended. Altogether great.

Got this for my Dad on Father's Day and his face light up when he opened it as he loves the blue brothers and straight away copied the CD onto his Walkman to listen to when he's at work.

This is an excellent album - great to listen to in the car. Fairly new to the Blues Brothers music, but having seen the show recently this reminded me of a great evening I had.
