4.0 out of 5 stars most underrated band ever!
This is a wilderness album from HoL down to a 3 piece which gives this album a more pared down raw album which I thoroughly enjoyed the loss of terry bickers great guitar skills is very noticeable but guy chadwicks songwriting still shines through definitely worth a listen if you like HoL! loses one star for lack of terrys skills

3.0 out of 5 stars Some perspective
Get real guys - this is not a 5 star album. It's not the best album you've ever heard. It's very good. The Creation (first album), Fontana (butterfly)and Babe Rainbow are all brilliant. The compilation of B sides, outtakes etc known as "a spy in the house of love" is also well worth listening to. I would probably go with the following order:

1 Creation...

The German album and the first album proper get all the plaudits of course. And so very brilliant they are too. But Audience With the Mind is so much more than a slightly less impressive follow up album, or a marker in some kind of wilderness period. It may not have Terry Bickers volatile genius sprinkled all over it, but it's a different album reaching for a different feel. We could use words like accomplished and mature, but it's also haunting, emotive, and very brilliant in its own right. Far from being slightly inferior to the earlier bursts of wanton creative energy, this is actually the sound of a songwriter and band at the very peak of their powers. Babe Rainbow would make a fine companion purchase, too. Together, this glorious pair of albums make a lot of sense.

5 A spy ***

I would say 1-3 are the essential purchases.
