5.0 out of 5 stars Duke Jordan's BLUE NOTE gem from 1960., 14 May 2012

Duke Jordan was Charlie Parker's pianist during 1947/48 and recorded his sole BLUE NOTE album as leader on August 4, 1960 with a superb quintet including Dizzy Reece(trumpet), Stanley Turrentine(tenor sax), Reggie Workman(bass) & Art Taylor(drums).
The Bud Powell-influenced Jordan contributes 7 memorable originals plus a beautiful version of the standard, 'I Should Care'.
This RVG Edition of 'Flight to Jordan' is a varied and enjoyable modern jazz album which makes an ideal introduction to the music of the underrated Duke Jordan.
