Tommy hasn't aged well as a concept; but the musicality and the performance still stand up as an exemplary period piece.

The movie of Tommy is one of my favourite all time films. The Who are amazing, and each song is different. I can listen to this all day.
I can't believe they didn't add 'Kevin is a model child' to the original - this would have fitted in perfectly.

A ridiculous concept album? Yes, very much so (the story revolves around a chap called Tommy, who sees his stepfather(?) murder someone, and turns deaf, dumb and blind. He gets abused by his wicked uncle Ernie. He turns out to be an amazing pinball player - via sense of smell. Lots of people try to cure him, and in the end he opens a holiday camp. I think). Still, this album features absolutely amazing drumming, guitar and vocals. I hate The Who, but this is an undeniably amazing album.
So yeah, buy it. You may want to get the uber-expanded version.

I haven't listened to this for YEARS! and the last time was on my old record player when I still had a full head of hair. As I'm seeing them live I've been tracking back and got Tommy for a snip. It sounds so robust, so beefy now, that I found myself drawn right back into it. Ok there are some reeeeeeeeeally lame songs on it, but on my CD player I can skip Uncle Ernies Holiday Camp whereas in the old days you just let the vinyl run its course. A good album all in all.
