5.0 out of 5 stars Noize level critical!
This is an amazing pop/rock album. Tigertailz were a great band but unfortunately were ridiculed for three things: their name, their over-the-top glam image and the fact that they were Welsh. The world couldn`t seem to handle the fact that a band from Wales desperately wanted to be Motley Crue. It`s a pity because they were damn good at it. If Tigertailz had hailed...

3.0 out of 5 stars A very guilty pleasure
My, how this album has dated over the years. This is a full fat slice of 80s glam/hair metal at its most bloated. Massively overproduced, frankly embarrassing but hugely enjoyable, I make sure the house is empty before playing this on full volume. Tigertailz lack a bit of cutting edge regarding the guitarwork but this is a underrated classic with a clutch of wonderfully...

If Tigertailz had hailed from L.A., then "Bezerk" would be a glam classic that would still be talked about the same way people talk about "Appetite for destruction", "Faster pussycat", "No respect" and "Too fast for love".
The album has a massive production with loud guitars, silly sound effects and huge backing vocals. The band must have spared no expence on recording as it still sounds fantastic. It`s the songs that really make the album what it is. Every number is catchy and anthemic from the opening "Sick sex" through to "Call of the wild". "Love bomb baby" is something of a lost classic with it`s gloriously dumb chorus. Although the songs have plenty of hooks, guitarist Jay Pepper still manages to get a few real heavy riffs into the mix. Only on "Heaven" do things get a bit too pop but that might just be me as I`m no great fan of rock ballads. Special mention must also go to the cover, which was originally a lavish gatefold with amazing pictures of the band and a brilliant front cover of vocalist Kim Hooker, complete with red contact lenses, looking totally "Bezerk". I hope the CD reproduction is just as good.
I have waited a long time for this to be reissued. This time it comes with a bonus track from the "TYFHO" sessions in late `91 which were never released as the band parted company with drummer Ace Finchum, dumped the glam image and changed their name soon after. Like the rest of the glam rockers, grunge killed them and the band tried, but failed, to do something different. "Bezerk" is a real throwback to a time when you could rock out to something real dumb and feel good about it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best glam album ever, 22 Jun. 2005
This review is from: Bezerk (Audio CD)
Whoever said this band were either ridiculed or wanted to be motley crue couldnt be more wrong, bezerk IS a classic glam album and has always been regarded as such by fans worldwide! They were no more motley crue clones than skid row! There sound was heavier than most of the glam bands on the scene especially on the following release WAZBONES but bezerk is without a doubt there best and the best glam album ever!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolute classic album, 24 Sept. 2008

I only have this on vinyl, sadly, so the last song is Call Of The Wild, but oh what a finale!

The album starts with Sicksex. Great, but not classic. Then you have Love Bomb Baby, one of the absolute essential glam anthems. Then there's I Can Fight Dirty Too - classic - Noise Level Critical - classic, if totally cringy and '80s - Heaven - classic, though slightly weaker than the last three songs - Love Overload, which is pretty fantastic, and Action City, which is very similar to later track Squeeze It Dry, and about equal to it. That's OK, though, they're both great songs. That leaves just Twist & Shake and Call Of the Wild, which have to be two of the highlights of this album. Seriously, not a bad song in sight. Though the lyrics are cheesy as all Hell. As are the songs.

Cheesy but classic.

5.0 out of 5 stars glam to the max, 14 July 2010
This review is from: Bezerk. [VINYL] (Vinyl)
Tigertailz are the band to namecheck/wear their t-shirt,when it comes to the glam/sleaze scene.None more so than at KISS gigs[tribute bands as well],I have had many a chat with other fans, delighted to talk about one of the most under rated bands in rock.We are small in number, but dedicated bunch rivalling KISS fans in their passion.Want to know why, check out this album and you will see .

Bezerk is the second album, released in 1990 by the classic Tailz line up,most notably featuring Kim Hooker on vocals.Kim is Tailz's second vocalist, who is the number one choice with most fans,as his vocal style drives the songs with more excitement, than the more rough and ready Steevi Jaimz.

Tailz dared too be shameless out and out glamsters,in every aspect, whether it be their image[huge hair, and tonnes of make up],live shows, and of course their tunes, and what tunes they were.BIG riffs,[heavier than most bands of their ilk]and HUGE and I mean HUGE sing along chorouses, sounding like twenty odd people belting it out for all there worth.Ten songs digitally recorded and direct metal mastered. This album has been specially designed to explode your head,so says the warning on the sleave, and you know what it's true.
Anthems like ACTION CITY,SICKSEX,and LOVE OVER LOAD are great but it's NOISE LEVEL CRITICAL, with it's cool radio intro, that is the true highlight.I say true because it's a better song overall than LOVE BOMB BABY.LOVE BOMB is the Tailz most popular/hated song, winding up many a beardy progger, and sweaty metalhead with it's almost constant O-T-T chorus, but I love it.

TIGERTAILZ pushed glam metal to the max with this record[ more so than Poison's debut],at a time when other similar bands were holding back, times and tastes were changing never to be the same again, but they did it anyway.Tailz's attitude is summed up perfectly by their cartoon tiger mascot, drawn by Tailz bassest PEPSI TATE[r.i.p],which you can see for your self if you buy the album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Go Bezerk., 22 Aug. 2009

Bezerk is the classic second studio album by Tigertailz and was by far their most successful album, even entering the UK top 40 albums chart on its initial release in 1990. Listening to Bezerk gives you the feeling of a band that had spent the last three years writing the best album of their lives.

Every track here is a classic. The opening track "Sick Sex" gets the album off to a flying start with an opening that has yet to be matched with its epic orchestral score and strangely distorted screeches. "Love Bomb Baby" is arguably Tigertailz biggest hit and is an absolutly massive glam metal anthem. "I Can Fight Dirty Too" is a bit heavier than the previous track and benefits from a brilliant rumbling bass line by Pepsi Tate. "Noize Level Critical" is another glam metal anthem with a chorus you cant help but sing along too. "Heaven" is the ballad of the album and is beautiful with backing provided by a full orchestra. "Love Overload" is another classic glam tune as are the next three songs, "Action City", "Twist And Shake", and "Squeeze It Dry". "Call Of The Wild" is a superb way to close the album with another great sing along chorus and Ace Finchum battering his drums to shreds.

Tigertailz would never again achieve these heights, (although in my opinion their 1995 album "Wazbones" is the best album they've ever made) but with Bezerk they made sure they left a lasting impression on the music scene. Bezerk is without a doubt a classic glam metal album and your collection isnt complete without it.

Massively overproduced, frankly embarrassing but hugely enjoyable, I make sure the house is empty before playing this on full volume. Tigertailz lack a bit of cutting edge regarding the guitarwork but this is a underrated classic with a clutch of wonderfully dumb pure rock anthems. The three stars are for the brainless classics, "Love Bomb Baby", "Love Overload" and "Noise Level Critical". The rest is basically those songs rehashed to fill up the album. Worth every penny to own this again.
