5.0 out of 5 stars mental 80's psychadelia, 5 Oct. 2001
This review is from: Translucent Flashbacks (The Glass Singles) (Audio CD)
Brilliant. A melting pot for so many ideas and experiments in sound. This album realy does have a slice of everything, from pure harsh drone-rock to spine tingling beauty. Check out "Ecstasy Symphony" for one of the most lush, sweeping and beautiful pieces of music ever recorded. This 9 minute stunner takes in some sublime strings and some stange spoken word vocals before effortlessly melting into the highly warped & twisted "Transparent Radiation". "Rollercoaster" is a 17 minute singular-cord driven droner which seems to melt the mind, leaving you both dazed & confused for the lovely, melodic "Feel So Sad". If you have not listened to Spacemen 3 before then you really should listen to this album because it can show you so much. Buy it. ASAP!

5.0 out of 5 stars An album of undisputed greatness, 9 Dec. 2000

A Spacemen 3 singles collection...what could be better than this? If you love music, you should already own this is album ; however if this amazing record has somehow passed you by, it is music you no longer need to be without. Experience the full 17 minute(?) intensity of "Rollercoaster", the sublime "Transparent Radiation" and the anthemic "Walking with Jesus" and tell me that this is not one of the greatest bands of our time...you won't be able to.

A Spacemen 3 singles collection...what could be better than this? Every track is amazing, especially the 17 minute version of Rollercoaster which will leave you truly hypnotised. A great introduction to a legendary band, no one should be without a copy of this disc.

this has some excellent moments, but probably if you've not heard S3 before you're better off with 'Playing with Fire' or 'Perfect Prescription' as a first purchase

but it's true that the 9-minute version of ecstasy symphony is top notch, and the original version of walking with jesus, with its grinding VU-style guitars, are essential if you're into this band
