5.0 out of 5 stars Peggy Lee, Capitol Records 1946-1969
This 1988 compilation was one of a series produced by Alan Dell. The 16 tracks chosen represent a wide range of material and all were Capitol recordings. The idea of these CD releases was to showcase the work of an artist for a label hence there were The Best of the Capitol Years & The Best of the EMI Years releases plus I believe The Liberty Years too.

The reason I think this is worth 5 stars is because it is a mix of well known hits, ballads & uptempo material all excellent arrangements and great sound. Alan Dell added the liner notes and over 25 years later this is a much sought after CD. The 16 track duration was very much the normal for the time.
This CD has a running time of approx 45 minutes. Pricewise you can collect the series quite reasonably and each issue is well worth seeking out.

The recordings dates are I think as follows:

Mañana, November 25, 1947

Golden Earrings, September 24, 1947

It's a Good Day, July 12, 1946

Don't Smoke in Bed, December 2, 1947

Why Don't You Do Right? November 19, 1947

Fever, May 19, 1958

The Folks Who Live on The Hill, April 4, 1957

Hallelujah I Love Him So, March 28, 1959

I'm A Woman, November 14, 1962

A Doodling ' Song, May 29, 1963

Big Spender, October 27, 1965

So What's New? September 13, 1966

The Shining Sea, May 21, 1966

Alright, Okay, You Win, October 29, 1965

Is That All There Is, January 24 & 29, 1969

I'm Gonna go Fishin' July 26, 1960

Peggy Lee's smooth, silky voice captures the essence of any song-be it ballads or swing. She sings from the heart and I could listen to her for hours. Buy this CD
