5.0 out of 5 stars Cyndi at her best, 17 Oct 2004
This review is from: Sisters of Avalon (Audio CD)
I had been after this CD for years and finally got around to buying a copy. I can't express how great this album is and would highly recommend it to all. It is Cyndi finally reaching the potential that we all new was there. There is fantastic maturity and feeling to these songs and "Say A Prayer" is has firmly become one of my fav songs of all time. Other highlights are "love to Hate You" and "Unhook the Stars". Buy this and enjoy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't let the 80s overshadow the 90s!, 18 May 2002

This review is from: Sisters of Avalon (Audio CD)
Because of her frivilous, girly fun image in the early 80s Cyndi Lauper's efforts as a songwriter and serious artist are often overlooked.
Sisters of Avalon is one of her best albums to date. The melancholy and poignant 'Unhook the Stars' for me is the standot track and the best song Cyndis ever written. There are more fun tracks on here, such as 'Brimstone and Fire' but this is essentially a mature album.

5.0 out of 5 stars So artistic, 16 Feb 2014

This review is from: Sisters of Avalon (Audio CD)
What struck me about this CD is how artistic it is; tracks like Fearless and Mother are simplistic yet captivating and so intriguing to listen to. The sound of the Dulcimer gives this album a folk-like edge to it, whilst it still clings on to a rebellious atmosphere due to songs such as Sisters of Avalon, Ballad of Cleo & Joe and Love To Hate. A great buy, but I could understand why people may possibly not like it due to its hidden depth.

HAT FULL OF STARS was(is) an amazing album made by this unique and fantastic artist and this album matches it with sheer brilliant style and giving it a harsh gritty realism which gives this album a whole lot of power.
i personally love this album and it isnt only of her best but it is also another one of the greatest of all time.

the bonus track Lollygagging seems a bit pointless but is a fun 10 seconds.

a great oriental feel album with many unique styles of beat and you will never hear an album quite like this anywhere else,it is one of the best albums ever made, only beaten in trend by BRING YA TO THE BRINK but this along with-Hat Full Of Stars,Shes So Unusual and True Colours are sheer brilliant albums...and Sisters Of Avalon is a triumph of an albu and is genuinly great to listen to.

i want eveyone to purchase this album:)
