Great album from the eighties - Sounds as good now as it even was. Even my teenage daughters had to admit that it wasn't bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars The 'classic' sound of 1985!, 7 Dec 2008

Some strange things happen in the music world that cannot be explained - and this was one of them: 'Go West' should have been one of the biggest bands to ever come out of the 80s, but amazingly, despite releasing no less than four fabulous singles in 1985, only one made it to the Top Five! My personal favourite of these four releases was 'Goodbye Girl' that did not even make the Twenty... However, so what - this band were brilliant (and still are 'coz they're still around!)

'Go West' were notable for their crisp and clear sound - and one could hear every word that was sung - unlike most bands of today. Everything they did in '85 I loved, and I wasted no time in purchasing their debut album! This plays much like a greatest hits collection, since much of the album material itself was good enough to be used for more singles: 'S.O.S. and 'Innocence' for example.

Great stuff, and for me, the quintessential sound of 1985!

5.0 out of 5 stars THE 'WHITE' SOUL SOUND OF 1985, 19 Nov 2007

Go west crashed onto the pop music scene way back in early 1985 with this fantastic album. I was 16 when this was issued and remember the exitement seeing them perform on Top of the Pops. Fronted by the smoothed voice Peter Cox with Richard Drummie they created there own Pop niche. There isn't one duff track on this album with 'Call Me' being one of the best. They managed to encapsulate the sound of the mid 80's and the move away from the dated ' New Wave' sound. To something more soulful helped by Peter Cox's brilliant vocal performances. But they only made three albums which slipped from the charts in quick sucession. Today they still perform live with Peter Cox releasing his own solo albums from time to time.
