5.0 out of 5 stars Recognisably 80s But Timeless, 21 Dec 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Best Of A Flock Of Seagulls (Audio CD)
I've discovered AFOS's music in the last year or two after hearing the classic I Ran on the radio and not being able to believe that it was not a hit in Britain.
It's a shame that 'that' haircut will always overshadow the band because there is a fine melodic sense at work here aswell as a typical British early 80s Electro-Pop melancholic depth allied to a crisp no-nonsense guitar sound that still sounds fresh and arresting all these years later. It's worth buying for I Ran alone but every track, with the exception of Who's That Girl,is enough to convince me that there was much more to this band than image.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic new romantics..., 28 Nov 1999
A Flock Of Seagulls were always regarded as a bit of a joke in the UK (mainly due to Mike Scores haircut...). This compilation shows their music was a match for any at the start of the eighties.
Strangely enough, DNA won a Grammy in the US in 1982 for Best Rock Instrumental.
If you are only familiar with Wishing or Space Age Love Song, then I recommend you pick this up and fly with the flock...

4.0 out of 5 stars A must for every 80s collection, 5 Feb 2004
This review is from: The Best Of A Flock Of Seagulls (Audio CD)
This album is simply a must have for every self respecting thirty something. Albums like this hide in the background but when they're found they unleash a whole new wave of just how cool it was to have lived through the 80s. (assuming of course that New Romantic / electro was your thing)
"Photograph" is a classic and "I ran" just brilliant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gifted and the founders of the New Romantics, 20 Sep 2000
By A Customer
These guys were knocked from side to side, up and down! Extremely dodgy haircuts and dreadful make up, put that to one side for a moment and you have a hugely talented group who laid down the foundation for the New Romantic era of the 80's. The first British band to break into the American charts in the late 70's and early 80's. A gem of an album for those who are fans of the 80's synthesizer tunes. Simply brilliant and a shame that they have had such bad press in the past, a Icon of British music!

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent collection of the "best of A.F.O.S." A must!, 15 Nov 2000
By A Customer
If you were a fan of the "Seags" during the 1980s then this is a must for you. The tracks encompass what was the tour de force of their catchy pop tunes, mixed with a sci-fi slant. Buy it you won't regret it!

This review is from: The Best Of A Flock Of Seagulls (Audio CD)
A Flock of Seagulls are one of my fave bands and this CD is worth every penny. Theres not a duff track on the album, my faves are 'I Ran' and 'Space Age Love Song', yet the other tracks never fail to impress. For the money, you can't go wrong! Highly recommended!

This is a good compilation - Certainly worth the money for the 'hits' alone. When I say worth the money you can pick it up on Amazon used in good nick for a couple of quid. Worth the nostalgia buzz for less than the price of a pint........
