5.0 out of 5 stars one to savour and discover year after year.
Having carried around a cassette of this album for the last 20 years as a prized possession I was delighted when it was released on CD. Despite being recorded 20+ years ago it stands the test of time. Fans of Chuck's will be aware of his lyracism and intimate orchestrations. 3.0 out of 5 stars A live round up of much of his studio recordings to date
If you liked most of CM's 70's albums, this a good live showcase of many of his best tracks, augmented by what must have been a pretty expensive 70 piece orchestra. According to the sleeve notes, it was a sell-out, one day event attended by 18,000 fans when he was at the peak of his success.

Having carried around a cassette of this album for the last 20 years as a prized possession I was delighted when it was released on CD. Despite being recorded 20+ years ago it stands the test of time. Fans of Chuck's will be aware of his lyracism and intimate orchestrations. However, the use of a 70 piece orchestra does nothing but enhance the beauty and skill of this artist. Do not judge on first listen, although by no means hard on the ear, listen to it and enjoy. It is one of those gems that reveals something new at each listenening. The complexity of the rhythms, the easy dove-tailing of instruments and the warm orchestrations. Without doubt this is a joy and an inspiration, especially when you have attempted the trumpet for the last 30 years,as I have No not just a musicians album, it's for everyone and will be a valued addition to anyones collection. Buy it, enjoy it and discover it again and again. Chuck Mangione, good musician, skillful arranger and great orchestrator, everything I wish to be as a musician.

If you liked most of CM's 70's albums, this a good live showcase of many of his best tracks, augmented by what must have been a pretty expensive 70 piece orchestra. According to the sleeve notes, it was a sell-out, one day event attended by 18,000 fans when he was at the peak of his success.

The quartet comprises Chris Vadala (flutes & saxes), Grant Geissman (guitars), Charles Meeks (bass) and James Bradley, Jr. (drums) with a fairly extensive brass and woodwinds section fleshing things out still further.

As a live documentary of much of what he'd done to date, this is pretty good and, now remastered, is well worth having, even though one might have wished for a somewhat meatier rhythm section. It must have been a pretty wonderful concert, even though, amongst such a multitude of other people, you'd have been lucky not to have been so far away that the performers would have been tiny little figures a long way off.
