This is AC/DCs third studio album and the second to be released internationally, in 1976 (the same year as High Voltage was released). This international version has no "RIP" or "Jailbreak" tracks, instead replaced with Squealer and Rocker. To me, the outstanding track is the bluesy Ride On. It is a bit of a departure from the hard rocking stuff, but illustrates the musical talent of the band. Really surprised me when I first heard it. Scott's almost plaintive voice and that fantastic stripped down bluesy guitar by Young. Superb. I would love to have heard an album or two of this style, but I guess it just wasn't where they wanted to go. An earlier reviewer said AC/DC are not known for their musicianship. Not known by whom? Anybody who knows anything about AC/DC will tell you they are superb musicians, who play hard hard rock. This is a great little album, with quite a mix of tracks. I gave it three stars only in relation to how I think it ranks, relative to other AC/DC albums. It still blows the socks off most other rock albums, not by AD/DC. A proper rock band. Recommended.
