I sort of have mixed feelings about this remix album of the song "the perfect drug." I knew the original wouldn't be on it, and that was fine with me. I love to get any NIN singles because there's always cool remixes. And this is because they are done by Trent Reznor himself, or by him and others.
" 'The Perfect Drug' Versions" has remixes, but all of them except for one are done by different artists. These artists being Meat Beat Manifesto, Plug, Spacetime Continuum, and The Orb. The songs are all right, but they don't compare to what Reznor can do with his songs. Track 3 was done/remixed by Nine Inch Nails and it shows. It's the only one on the CD that does the song justice. (It actually sounds like something you would hear on the "Fight Club" soundtrack.) The remixes are good, but could've been much better.
I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who just "kinda" likes Nine Inch Nails. If you're a die hard NIN fan then this is something that is worth checking out. My feelings are somewhat mixed about this CD, but my overall impression is that I'm content with it. Just wished there were more remixes by Trent Reznor himself. Other than that, it's still a cool CD to have if you are a big NIN fan.

forget the extesive remixes, this single contains a brilliant song and the remixes are extremely good also. maybe mr reznor should concentrate on making albums more than remixes and this song should have found its way onto the downward spiral album or the fragile (depends on if the downward spiral lp came out before the song was made) definitley worth buying though just for a listen.

This isnt so much a review, as any NIN fan knows this song is amazing. What I want to say to you is be very careful what you buy. This EP can go from 1 star rating to a 5 star rating depending on which version you buy. I totally apologise if I'm teaching you to suck eggs or repeating things you already know, but there are two versions of this ep. 'ohh i hear you say', not so much I swear. There is a 5 track and a 6 track version available. You WANT/NEED the 6 track version as this is the one with the orginal version of perfesct drug on it. The 5 track version has 5 remixes on it. Just be careful how you shop so you don't pick up something you don't want or something that disappoints you. The remixes aint that good, and come nowhere near the track you know, just be careful and look at what you about to purchase. It took me ages to find my version, but well worth it. The way they have done this make no sense, but at the end of the day it's only consumers like me and you that suffer aint it!

the original version of this song (from the Lost Highway soundtrack, also available as a b-side on 'Were in This together') is one of the best songs ever made. These remixes are not.
I am a huge NIN fan, and i love everything Trent's released, except this. Its 5 very dance mixes that lack any of the abrasion, emotion or power of the original. I really cant understand why it was released. It dose however have nice cover art.

The track "the perfect drug" is from the lost highway soundtrack. Any NiN fan should have a copy of this cd as it contains a series of remixes of the perfect drug which was in itself an amazing song but this cd adds a whole new meaning to the song, with versions of the song for every mood you may be in. Im a NiN fanatic so i love near enough every think that NiN ever do so if tyour a NiN fan my review will just emphisise the fact that this is an amazing cd well worth the money.

for those of you who first heard the track on the lost highway soundtrack, these are a series of remixes very much in the same way as fixed was to broken. why such a strong lyricist as reznor feels the need to create endless largely vocaless remixes of such sublime songs is beyond me. but that's genius i guess. if you haven't heard the original of this track but are a nine inch nails fan... consider yourself shamed and go and buy the lost highway soundtrack immediately. as it goes the remixes are alright but if you're thinking of buying this you should already know what sort of nin stuff you like so my personal opinion won't matter a whole lot.

Ok does not contain the original (need lost highway soundtrack for that) but each remix is top notch. Covers everything from drum and bass to trance. An absolute must, I just wish all the singles were remixed to such a stan dard.
