4.0 out of 5 stars Very rough and not quite ready.
If you're expecting a well produced record packed full of classics like the Pistols debut then you're in for a disappointment. If you just wanna hear Sid rocking out in all his raw unrehearsed glory then this is the record for you. The choice of covers is superb (New York Dolls, Ramones, Stooges and even the Pistols themselves) but the sound quality does occasionally let...

3.0 out of 5 stars Live with the Idols at Max's
Sid opens this calamity with the line'Turn up this microphone, so I can sing...', well, mate, they turned up the mic, then what happened?
Backed by the Idols, the remnants of the New York Dolls, who were actually quite well rehearsed, Sid tries to walk n talk it, but fails miserably.

Don't get me wrong..I loved this guy, and worshipped him, until he tried to become something(someone) he couldn't live up to.
Anyway, the sound is garbage, the mix is all over the place, and the choice of covers poor. That said, its a snap shot of NYC punk, recorded at Max's, my favourite place, and a reminder of how good he could've been. He coulda been a contender...

If you just wanna hear Sid rocking out in all his raw unrehearsed glory then this is the record for you. The choice of covers is superb (New York Dolls, Ramones, Stooges and even the Pistols themselves) but the sound quality does occasionally let it down. The performance is rough but rocking though the backing singer on a couple of the tracks sings so flat you just wanna punch him. The 'production' (?!) is at points so bad it's laughable but none of this should detract from the fact that it's still a classic of it's genre and an important and fascinating piece of the Sex Pistols history.

I have to say that on listening to this cd, it made me realise why he wanted to commit suicide. He could have been something else but I guess that is showbiz.
