It's not one of my all time favourites by Sarah Vaughan. I prefer her record she made with Quincy Jones in Paris called Sarah Vaughan with violins. However, it is still interesting to listen to beautiful arrangments by Don Costa on this album. The Lonely Hours record consists of more quiet and reflective kind of songs that deal with heart break. Sassy's voice is absolutely on top form in here. Her steel like soprano and her ornamentation of the songs are unique. "Snowbound", "Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most", "Look for me, I'll be around", "I fall in love too easily" and "These Foolish Things" are my favourites. A perfect record for a wintry evening.
