This review is from: ...Somewhere More Familiar (Audio CD)
Why people dont know about this band more i dont know. They are a tight talented band and this album, their second, which is actually a re-release, is really very strong for its genre. All 12 tracks are light acousitc rock, sometimes bordering on Country and Western but never actually getting there. Standout tracks include "All For You", which has had a lot of airtime in america a few years ago, "Think About Me" and "Superman", good old fashioned light rock rockers and "Starfish" which in my opinion is the best song on the album. the lyrics throughout the album seem very well thought out and, yes, even poetic at times. I personally enjoy this album immensely, but have had mixed responses from friends and i think is one of those albums that needs to be listened to over and over to be fully appreciated, as while at first listen it may sound one dimensional, there is some very good guitar and bass work and some clever 'sneak up one ya' catches and melodies, as well as brilliant vocals by lead singer Ken Block. The band is very honest and down to earth in real life and i think that shows through in the songs... good earthy honest rock!!! listen to it.
