This is the finest album since the white album, it is beautiful and pure, it tears at your heart and mind and touches your very soul. Buy it, and feel glad to be alive

Whilst 'Beautiful Freak' is a gentle masterpiece of a love poem and 'Novocaine for the soul' is an irrestistable indie anthem, must say I found the rest of this album a leetle disappointing. The lyrics are witty and the world blinked at through the ironic, romantic eyes of Mr E is an engaging one, but the music never reaches the swirling cosmic textures of Grandaddy. Perhaps the comparison isn't entirely fair though. There's a rougher, slacker edge to the Eels which distinguishes them from the more ethereal Grandaddy and their melancholy desires slickle through your head along their own off-beat channels.

" Turn the Ugly Light Off God, I don't wanna See my Face" ! Yes..E Has Issues, the Issues the Hurt and Pain he expresses throughout this album Is Felt Deep Down everytime I play this So Beautiful Album. The Lyrics are Dark and So they Should Be as Listening To his Vocals nearly Break through Emotion. give you the Sense of Enormous Hurt. Alot of the Issues surrounding Appearence which Picks on the title "Beautiful Freak", this Album is Crafted so Accurately and songs That Really would Let the Tears roll if in an Emotional Frame Of Mind. This Album has seemed to help me somewhat, When I'm In an emotional State I play The Eels in my Dark room and Really feel I'm Suffering the Pain with Him !

Some okay tunes but the lyrics are a freshfaced american teenager's idea of darkness. Would have been better if they'd got someone else to write them or gone "la la la" throughout. White Album? I don't think so.
