5.0 out of 5 stars Another favourite LP by Miles Davis....
Louis Malle's Ascenseur Pour L'Echafaud (Lift to the Scaffold) was in many ways the definitive Nouvelle Vague crime movie (later relations included Bande a Part and Tirez Sur La Pianiste); it's soundtrack was also definitively 'new wave.' The great Miles Davis, breaking from his earlier collaborations with Charlie Parker & Gil Evans was on a three-week tour of Europe &...

3.0 out of 5 stars Wrong track listings
I bought this CD yesterday (not from Amazon) and was perplexed because the CD cover showed the tracks that were on the original LP as tracks 17 to 26. Listening to it and popping it into iTunes confirmed that the CD actually has them as tracks 1 to 10. Jason Parkes had this correct in his review from 2004. Yet the Amazon site has the tracks mislabelled as per my CD. This...

This music makes for a great atmospheric soundtrack. However you need to have seen the film to really appreciate it...

2.0 out of 5 stars The music is recommended - but be wary of the download., 16 Nov 2013

Some excellent music, and this session was more important in Miles's musical development than is commonly recognised. I'd like to write a proper review sometime. But for now, I want to warn you off the download version from "JB Production" which amazon.uk is currently advertising. To judge from the samples on the website it is marred by a repeated background click which suggests to me that it was copied from someone's used vinyl LP.

I concur with MikeG's review. I bought the CD with the free AutoRip. The Cd itself hasn't arrived yet but I downloaded the AutoRip to play it to discover that the tracks contain nasty pops and clicks as he describes.
