5.0 out of 5 stars Very well performed, bringing many feelings from the past.
I listen to this disc all the time. It is simply, beautifully performed, with great feeling by obviously-skilled artists. I can't say anything greater than that. If you want an introduction to what was heard long ago, this is a fantastic starting point.
Simply enchanting, why is this music so hard to find?

1.0 out of 5 stars No texts, no names
This CD contains excerpts of other recorded recitals by the New London Consort.
Of course, this collection of Medieval and Renaissance music is splendidly played and sung by Philip Pickett's group.
But, a comment like `a performance with words appear on the original recordings' is simply not acceptable. The folder doesn't even mention the individual performers...

Of course, this collection of Medieval and Renaissance music is splendidly played and sung by Philip Pickett's group.
But, a comment like `a performance with words appear on the original recordings' is simply not acceptable. The folder doesn't even mention the individual performers (C. Bott).
Moreover, trying to find the texts on Internet, like those of the Carmina Burana songs, is a hell of a job.
All those interested in this kind of music should (are forced to) buy the original recordings.

No sinners on this collection. A wonderful range of early music from various countries, performed by people who really know their stuff and who clearly enjoy what they are doing. Thoroughly uplifting.

See the picture? Forget that. Just another compilation of court stuff. Want a minstrel singing love songs, solo with a lute, as he rides into a hamlet at sundown? Then don't buy this.
