Having grown up with Alan Moore's comics, I was expecting the Birth Caul to be special. Although it did take me a few lessons to get used to his thick accent, I soon came to regard this as his most complete work. At times, it is personal, exploring Moore's own family history and the Northampton streets he has spent his life walking: at other times, entire swathes of human experience are invoked and examined.
When this become available, buy it,and listen to it in a darkened room.
