5.0 out of 5 stars Forget what you know about music, 27 Sep 2005
This review is from: Dry As A Bone/Rehab Doll (Audio CD)
GREEN RIVER are, for lack of a better word, sludgy.
They bring together punk and metal and blend it into a mess, a beautiful mess. It's not just Pearl Jam crossed with Mudhoney. It's not just Pearl Jam playing while Mark Arm sings. It's an entity all on it's own and yet features enough elements of both bands to draw their fans in. It holds you and won't let go as you're dragged through the musical delights of Dry as a Bone (standout tracks: This Town, Baby Takes) and Rehab Doll (standout tracks: Rehab Doll, One More Stitch, Take a Dive).
There's no way to explain it other than imperfect to the degree it's perfection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Grunge At Its Best, 27 Mar 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Dry As A Bone/Rehab Doll (Audio CD)
Green River were a band comprising of Mark Arm who later went to shout for Mudhoney and the Basest and Guitar section who formed Mother Love Bone and then Pearl Jam. Although all in their early years you can clearly hear from this Album that they were all heading for success. Very much the same grunge style as Mudhoney and Mark Arms unmistakable Vocals, Green River (named after the famous Green river murders) thrash their way through a groundbreaking album which lifted the lid on the SUB POP era with a bang. Mark Arm really shows his vocal strength when screaming through Swallow My Pride and Rehab Doll. The whole band gel together perfectly too for tunes like One More Stitch. It is Obvious how the Guitar section reached fame so quickly with Pearl Jam after a top notch first LP like this one. A grunge album like this is a must for anyone who appreciated Mudhoney so that you will realise where it all began
