5.0 out of 5 stars Exemplary musicianship, 23 July 2006

Simply the finest recording of Parry's cathedral music. Roger Judd's playing is exemplary - supportive and strong whilst never over-shadowing the choral sound. Dr Robinson's tempi and dynamics are always spot on, and the choral sound itself, both soloists and as ensemble could not be bettered.

Amongst a collection of 1000-plus choral CDs, this ranks amongst the top 10.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sublime Singing., 21 Jan 2011

This review is from: Parry: Songs of Farewell & Jerusalem (Audio CD)
This is unaccompanied singing at its best. The balance and dynamics in the "Songs of Farewell" was brilliant but was also very moving spiritually. The chapel where it was recorded gave excellent accoustical sound. This a must for choral music lcvers. The quality of the recording is also very good.

I bought this CD for the five mystical songs as our choir was singing them in a concert. It is a really good recording and the choir is excellent.

This review is from: Parry: Songs of Farewell & Jerusalem (Audio CD)
I bought the cd because of a documentary with prince Charles, who was genuinely in tears when listening to the music. The cd sounds really warm. Recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbidingly Truly Amazing, 20 Jun 2013
This review is from: Parry: Songs of Farewell & Jerusalem (Audio CD)
Ok if you want to hear what I think were truly the finest choir of their time anywhere in the world, which I truly mean, then listen to Robinson's St Georges Windsor Choir singing Parry's Cathedral Music on the Hyperion label. The singing and musicality which the choir demonstrate as a whole, topped with an unbelievable quality of voices in all departments, is not only spellbindingly truly amazing but also legendary! This is the finest CD in my large collection of choral music which I have owned for a long time and one which I come back to time and time again! The quality of Parry's writing is also just out of this world and the music on this disc very cleverly and subtly provides us with the public and private Parry! Wow!

4.0 out of 5 stars Review of Parry, 20 May 2012

The recording with St George's Windsor choir and organ is very good. Some extremes of volume could be perhaps better controlled. Otherwise, thumbs up!
