Thank you Shades
on 30 October 2008
Thank you Shades. Run by Mike Shannon, Shades was a specialist rock record shop in the early to mid 80's. Set in a basement in Wardour Street and later Queen Anne's Court, it was the place you walked in with cash and walked out with a record by a band you'd never heard of. Happened to me with Angel, Starz, Loverboy and the mighty Rangers.
An absorbing album of well structured and delivered songs, no three minute verse chorus affairs here, Dawnpatrol is an album that staked a claim for a place at the top table.
It still holds its own nearly 30 years later and Don't tell me you love me and sing me away are still on compo cd's in the car.
A first up by a band like so many others that never quite achieved its potential. Dawnpatrol and follow up Midnight Madness should've broken them round the world, sadly not to be.
