This review is from: The Warner Bros. Records (Audio CD)
I bought this after hearing Nick Lowe sing 'In the Middle of it All', a lovely song, with an excellent lyric, about the aftermath of the relationship. I had not really been aware of Arthur Alexander since his songs on the early Beatles records, but was so impressed by this song that I decided to buy this record unheard. Some of the songs I already knew in other versions, 'Rainbow Road'(Joan Baez) and 'Burning Love'(Elvis) but most were new to me, over half are written by Arthur Alexander. It is a very laid back collection with almost a country feel running through it. The production is excellent and the singing is very heartfelt. At times it reminded me of Otis Redding, at times of Kris Kristofferson.
