5.0 out of 5 stars One of John Prine's best three albums...., 8 April 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Common Sense (Audio CD)
Here on "Common Sense" John again displays what a master wordsmith and songwriter he is. There is not a duff song on this album, each is a great offering to the world. Here are insights into the Human Condition that are set in truly memorable melodies with excellent guitar work and succinct accompaniments and arrangements. This is one of my favourite Top Three of all of Johns albums. Why he never had the success of Dylan, I don't know, -he certainly deserves it I believe! (and to my mind he just SOUNDS a lot better than Dylan!) and he isn't so gauche as Loudon Wainright either! Buy this one, -and enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars postie delivers yet again, 23 July 2014
This review is from: Common Sense (Audio CD)
Another gem from John Prine , probably shaded by the first three albums but not far behind . Not a dud song in sight and the skip button becomes redundant . He keeps surprising by topping off ten good originals with a spanking version of Chuck Berry's You Never Can Tell .
