Beautiful Tribute to her Legendary Daddy
on 30 October 2001
This is a wonderful set of songs which show off Natalie's singing talents brilliantly. The songs are quite traditionally done with a big band orchestra, but natalie's sweet voice always shines through.
The highlights of the album are the beautiful ballads, the melencholy 'Lush Life' and the superb medley of 'for sentimental reasons, tenderly, Autumn Leaves'. The upbeat tracks that shine through are 'Orange Coloured Sky' and the brilliantly arranged 'Almost Like Being in Love'
This album I feel will apeal to most tastes, especially those who love the songs of Nat King Cole. It is an album full of highlights, the only song I don't really like is the 'duet' of Unforgettable. I feel she would have been much better off singing this one on her own.
Natalie Cole is a superb talent in her own right and deserves to be thought of as such. Unfortunately though, I don't think she will ever be able to shake off the label of 'Nat King Cole's daughter'. A shame, for she is a wonderful singer with a beautiful, rich, powerful voice.
I couldn't think of a better tribute to Nat as this album, it is a sheer joy to listen to.
