Fun, Experimental, Retro and Modern.

World Clique sounds like it was made in the early 90's, but this is not necessary a bad thing. The multi-national Deee-Lite celebrate their internationalism with an eclectic mix of funk, pop, hip- hop and soul. It's obvious throughout that they want to make you dance.
Lady Miss Kier has an interesting voice, somewhere between quite deeply soulful and cutesy american, which suits this music well. And it is good music. Some of the more club tracks sound dated and too sparse, but thanks to Miss Kier, DJ Dimitry and DJ Towa Tei, along with Groove Is in the Heart are other tracks that make up for this, each one experimental but genuinely funky and listenable.
In my opinion, the strongest tracks are Try me on...I'm very You, Smile On, World Clique and Groove Is in the Heart. It's a shame that out of these four only the latter is included on Deee- Lite's 'very best of', but nonetheless both this and their World Clique LP are cheap here, so it might be worth buying both.
