4.0 out of 5 stars Very early
Although being a good record, it is not up to the standard of other Offspring albums. The sound of the record is poor as it sounds like its being recorded through a wall.It beats the stuffing out of any other debut albums(except possibly Buddha by Blink182 and yes I do know about Chesire Cat)but it is still not up to par with other Offspring stuff.

3.0 out of 5 stars not quite as good
You can tell by the style that this is an early Offspring album but thats no reason not to listen to it. There are three good tracks on this cd, 'A Thousand Days', 'I'll be waiting' and 'Beheaded' (even though the lyrics are twisted, as the the title may suggest). The rest of the songs are average but still good enough to listen to.

5.0 out of 5 stars A pretty good first effort by Offspring, 10 Aug 2001
This review is from: Offspring [VINYL] (Vinyl)
This was Offsprings first effort, recorded back in 1989, but later the production was stopped, as it sold terribly. Six years later, it was released on Lead singer Dexter's own label, Nitro, to combat the excessive sales of bootleg copies. I stuck this into my cd player, and loved it, from Jennifer lost the war, a tale of rape and murder, to kill the president, a song protesting about the leaders of the world. Standout tracks are: I'll be waiting, crossroads, blackball, and the blood drenched yet great beheaded. If you like offspring, you'll like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good For An Early Album, 26 Mar 2001
This review is from: The Offspring (Audio CD)
As long as you get the re-released version by Nitro Records the sound quility will be good. The songs are proper punk and well there are some quite catchy tunes such as Jennifer Lost the War and Beheaded as well as Kill the President. This is one of the Offsprings best so get it.

4.0 out of 5 stars The 'Raw' Offspring, 25 Sep 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: The Offspring (Audio CD)
Yeah, this is the first album that they released..it certainly has the raw feel to it. I think that some of these songs are the best they've done, especially Jennifer lost the war and Beheaded...even though they are twisted in their lyrical content! A real must for the fan and an interesting insight for the 'newbies' to the world of The Offspring

4.0 out of 5 stars The Offspring, 19 Aug 2000

Their first album, a good one definately, but certainly not their best. If you are a fan of the Offspring then it is a definate buy, but for new people to the Offspring I would definately recommend Ixnay On The Hombre.

5.0 out of 5 stars original and the best, 16 Jan 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Offspring (Audio CD)
THIS ALBUM IS QUITE SIMPLY THEIR BEST EVER! Many of you may see the Offspring only as the twisted commericalised punk pop band they are today. Not allways was this the case. Once they were masters at their genre. Compare Blackball with why don't you get a job and you'll see what I mean. The Kids aren't allright and Falling still show they can create quality but it will be a long time before the cries of "give it to me baby ahaah aha die away"
