this is emphatically one of the best versions of the three ballet suites of tchaikovsky that exist. the playing is sumptuous, the conducting is exquisit and the recording is gorgeous.

listen to "the waltz of the flowers". the strings are lush. the dramatic scene finale of "swan lake" is heightened to a new level. the "rose adagio" of "sleeping beauty" finds new layers.

a very, very fine recording.

another exceptionally fine recording is the rostropovich, also featuring the berlin philharmonic on deutsche grammophon.

As good as any if you want a condensed or introduction to Tchaikovsky's ballets and for an old recording sounds very fresh on my new latest Hi Fi kit. Arrived very quickly.

Powerful rendition by arguably the world's greated orchestra.

Excellent!!!
Delicate and Beautiful!

Great Conductor: Herbert Von Karajan, the greatest of the History!

I think that better than Leonard Bernstein, that also was Great!
And one of the best Conductors!
