I like this album. A friend of mine who's really into country music didn't like it, so she gave it to me. Perhaps she didn't like it because it's more a folk album than country, as far as production goes, with the exception of the vocals which have a gentle touch of country nuance.
One of the tracks on this album, "Let the Sun Fall Down", is absolutely gorgeous, and probably one of my fave songs of all time because it's so evocative and melancholy. The opening to the song, picked guitar over some strings, is deeply thoughtful and full of feeling, without ever getting "draggy". Rare! I'd say the album is worth buying, even if it's just for the one song. If you love Melanie Doane's "You are wisdom to me" song, or Annette Ducharme's "For the Moon", or Helma Sawatzky's "Shadow", this album is a must-have for you.
The rest of the album is solid, and extremely listen-able. Richey's songs are fun, with nice production, strong hooks, and rising choruses (like all good pop/country ;)). Her vocals have been described by reviewers as "ethereal" ... I think that's pushing it. But she definitely can sing, and if you're looking for an album with catchy country/pop/folk, and a female vocalist with a strong voice, I'd recommend this one.

Kim's 1st album and it's great. If you like this try Bitter Sweet her 2nd album. Great tunes with a superb band.

Kim Richey found us 3 years ago at the Kelvedon Institute . We can't stop seeing her live and buying up all her albums . This is a gem...like all the others.

Excellent albums - beautiful songs to match a beautiful voice and very much a contrast from Glimmer.

This album is superb. Right from the opening bars of "Those Words We Said" down to the last moments of the closing track, it'll have you hooked. I'll keep this short, as others have already said how great it is, but suffice to say it's one of my most popular albums for in the car.
