5.0 out of 5 stars LAST GREAT U2 ALBUM
For me POP is the last special U2 album. After this they just produced ordinary sounding music without that something special that made U2 so,well special.Such a shame because i always looked forward to every new release the band came out with.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hmm.
This is an album of 3 halves, clearly. The good bits, the bland bits and the bits that are left over!

What am I on about?

It depends if you're a U2 purist, a U2 nutter, or someone who just likes some U2 songs.

Whichever you are, there are some stock truths that should be considered when reviewing their work. 1. Their work is high-quality...

5.0 out of 5 stars U2 - Pop is Awesome, 21 Mar 2007
This review is from: Pop (Audio CD)
I bought this album when it first came out and I've loved it ever since. For me it's the best album since Achtung Baby by a mile. Don't be confused by the title, it's actually a very dark album, & the only poor track is Miami.

The highlights for me are:

1st Please

2nd If god will send his angels

3rd Gone

4th Last night on earth

5th Staring at the sun

6th If you wear that velvet dress

7th Playboy mansion

8th Wake up deadman

9th Discotheque

10th Do you feel loved

11th Mofo

12th Miami

2.0 out of 5 stars U2 tries and . . . . . fails, 18 Mar 2005

There are some good songs on here, but lets face it, some of them sound dreadful - even U2 themselves openly admit it! The people below who didn't give a single track on here less than 8/10 must be mad. Have you heard Miami? Much of it sounds like it needs a lot of work on it and better versions of Discotheque, Staring at the sun and Gone can be found on their best of the 90s. The good songs on here are Staring at the sun, Mofo (not to everyones taste I know - I'm not actually all that sure why I like it) and If God Will Send His Angels which I'd like to think of as one of U2's greatest ever. Only buy this if you want to complete your U2 collection, otherwise look elsewhere - I recommend Achtung Baby or How to Dismatle an Atomic Bomb.

1.0 out of 5 stars Awful!, 24 Oct 2000
This review is from: Pop (Audio CD)
As with Achtung Baby, Pop finds U2 continuing to be at the cutting edge of music. However, unlike Achtung Baby, this time it is at the expense of innovation or originality. Listen to Pop and you will wonder whatever happened to the band that recorded the eighties' finest moment, The Joshua Tree. The band that defined the very best of eighties music have well and truly sold out here.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dreadful, 3 Jun 2009
This review is from: Pop (Audio CD)
Dreadful. The depths to which this over-rated band have stooped are reached and even exceeded in this criminally bad album. Not that they haven't done some good stuff,

October 8/10
Boy 9/10
War 10/10
Unforgettable Fire 6/10
Joshua tree 2/10
Rattle & Hum 3/10
Zooropa 1/10
Achtung Baby 1/10
Pop 0/10

See the decline??
This album fails in its attempt to meld dance music with guitar lead rock. The result? A racket of unfathomable proportions.

Please, U2, just go away!!
